Activities

Beyond our festival events, we introduce here the range of initiatives that expand the circle of peace — including documentary film production, collaboration with local government, and public communication efforts.

🎆 “Heiwa Matsuri” Nationwide Simultaneous Fireworks Project

In 2021, to raise awareness of the UN’s “International Day of Peace” (September 21), we held a project launching fireworks simultaneously in 21 cities across Japan on September 19, the Sunday just before the day itself. This initiative was launched under the vision of “making ‘HEIWA’ a universal word,” as a way to send a message of peace from Japan.

🎯 Crowdfunding Success

This project was crowdfunded on CAMPFIRE. Against a goal of ¥2,500,000, we raised ¥2,541,000 (101% of the goal) from 112 supporters, reaching our target thanks to the generosity of many people. The wishes of each individual supporter came together and bore fruit in the form of a simultaneous nationwide fireworks launch.

🗾 Simultaneous Launch in 21 Cities Nationwide

With the cooperation of fireworks operators in 21 cities from Hokkaido to Okinawa, we launched fireworks — a symbol of peace — at the same time on the same day, across the country. Amid a social atmosphere often darkened by the pandemic, the light coloring the night sky became a symbol of hope, illuminating the hearts of many.

🌏 Looking Toward the Future

Heiwa Matsuri, which started from zero, had already spread to 31 cities in 14 countries by this same year. Fireworks may be light that vanishes in an instant. But the prayer and resonance born in that moment stay firmly in people’s hearts. We will continue to deliver the message of “HEIWA” to the world through Japan’s fireworks culture.

Long-term vision: To make the International Day of Peace (September 21) a public holiday. To make the word “HEIWA” a universal word.

🎬 Documentary Film Production

Heiwa Matsuri is producing a documentary film aimed at entry into international film festivals. This is an important initiative to raise international awareness and share our vision with the world. Through the power of film, we aim to deliver our message of fireworks and peace across borders.

🏛️ Government Endorsement

In September 2022, Heiwa Matsuri received official endorsement from the City of Sapporo, the City of Asahikawa, and the Asahikawa City Board of Education. Formal endorsement from local government is proof that our activities have been socially recognized, and it serves as great encouragement as we continue to expand our work.

🌐 Website Renewal

In January 2022, we renewed the Heiwa Matsuri website. We have strengthened our communication so that more people can learn about our vision, the latest event information, and reports on our past activities. We continue to send a message of peace, in Japan and abroad, through our website.
